| Brooklyn | Walking Brooklyn to Coney Island Posted: Thu June 26, 2008 04:48 PM UTC
I'm planning on walking from the Brooklyn bridge (Manhattan side) to Coney Island and was wondering if someone could recommend an interesting route through Brooklym. I know it's a haul but I've walked Manhattan tip-to-tip twice and was looking for something different (with a swim at the end a bonus!).
Thanks! |

you sound like you're familiar with NYC already. get off the BB and make a left onto Tillary, go a few blocks east, then make a right onto Flatbush Ave (all uphill). 4 or 5 blocks later, at DeKalb Ave, stop into Junior's for their world-famous cheesecake. Take FA all the way to Grand Army Plaza, then go into Prospect Park and walk, on Park Drive, along the west side of PP till the exit at Park Circle. Parkside Ave to your left, Coney Island Ave in front of you, Ocean Parkway (the beginning of it, anyway) to your right, across the Circle, where the auto ramps for Ocean Parkway and Ft Hamilton Parkway are. walk along the service road of OP (open cut highway to your right). Keep going due south; OP becomes Surf Ave at Brighton Beach Ave. Keep going into good ol' Coney Island, passing the Cyclone to your left on W. 8 St; continue to Stillwell Ave and have a chili dog at the original Nathans! Then make a left onto Stillwell which ends at the beach; don't leave your wallet unescorted while you swim!! THis is the direct, *** retentive route.
