Ferry to Mykonos Posted: Thu June 26, 2008 03:38 PM UTC
Hello,
How easy to commute from Rhodes to Mykonos with a ferry? Are there any ferries everyday and how long does it take? I appreciate your answers.

Have you checked the ferry sites at all?? I recommend you go to www.gtp.gr. In the Port slot put "Rhodes" and in "Destination " put Mykonos. Year 2008, but for day and month leave it at "Any." See what pops up.
I see only 2 ferries per week. On Saturday & Sunday. Saturday leaves before noon and arrives at 2 am Sunday. ON Sunday, leaves 2000 (8pm) and arrives 8 am. next day. Both trips are on aging ferries (over 25yrs old), with many stops. If u do the 2nd, I recommend u try to get a berth in a cabin (some ferries have 4 berth cabins, all male or all female). It will be more costly than just a seat, but consider - it will also be your hotel for the night.
If you want to go on any other days of the week it will be a 2 or 3-day slog -- ferry to patmos - patmos to Samos -- samos to Mykonos. Not worth it.
You need to spend some time looking at ferry websites before u choose your final destinations.

Re: Ferry Rhodes to Mykonos Posted: Wed July 9, 2008 04:05 PM UTC
I'm afraid the previous replies are not entirely correct. GTP.GR does not give you the answers.
Apart from the G&A ferries on Sat/Sun, there are ferries from Rhodes to Syros (BlueStar) on Tue, Thurs, Sun. Syros to Mykonos is about 3-5 times per day so easy peasy.
G&A ferries are fine, I have travelled on them many times, yes old ships, but who cares they get you there. BlueStar ferries are quite new and efficiently run.
You need to consult people with years of experience in using Greek ferries, they have knowledge of where to change ferries to effect odd connections/routes....not ferry websites.
