hi im going to davao city on Aug 21-24, solo trip (who wants 2 go with me so that somebody will take a picture for me hehehe ;-)....can u give me some rate for sampaguitta inn?...do they cater a pre booking for accommodation because i heard that it is always fully booked and its a festival week so i im sure it will...and also can u suggest some place to go...my tentative plan below...pls comment if its ok or not...
Aug. 21 (thu)- arrive around 8:30 in Davao Airport Aug. 22 (fri)- samal island (any cheap resort here, is paradise resort ok???)or talicud ?????? Aug. 23 (sat) - phil. eagle, malagos garden and eden (which needs to be prioritized???? ) Aug. 24 (sun) - kadayawan festival, watch street dance and go to malls, departure at night... which place should i go first? anyway, im looking for a cheap accommodation-single bed (500 below), coz im really in a tight budget...hehehe Any suggestions, comments...it will be highly appreciated...thanks... |

hello winzkie,
sampaguita inn is supposed to be a perfect place for you to stay because of their very low rate. as i know their aircon rooms cost 450.00 for singgle occupancy. but i don't know if they cater a pre booking accomodations specially during the kadayawan festival because even without special occations they always are almost fully booked because of their low rates. on your iterinary: Aug. 21; if you happen to book at sampaguita inn, visit the "Davao People's Park" its just a walking distance from sampaguita inn, the park will be full of cultural shows during the night. and you can have a leisure walk during the day because its also some kind of eco park. August 22: visit paradise island, entrance fee for day tour is only 90.00 pesos PAX and boat ride is 12.00 pesos PAX one way. you can order your lunch there on a reasonable prize. August 23; if you can contact a taxi huggle with the fare prize. i would suggest that upon your arrival you must contact one and set your date with him. tell him that your iterinary is to go to the Philippines eagle center (the best way to see the eagle is in the morning) then from eagle center you drop by malagos garden resort. before going to Eden nature park if you like grilled hito you can take your lunch at the restaurants lined up at los amigos. (just tell the driver for he knows the place. Then, from eden nature park proceed to davao crocodile farm. and lastly take your dinner at jackridge. August 24; if you are going to go malling try the durian coffee at blugre cafe located at the ground floor of SM davao. hope this helps, Good luck and happy travels! carlito

In addition to Carlito's good suggestions, on your way to The Phil. Eagle Center (PEC)I suggest that you drop by the Butterfly House at the Riverfront Corporate City, Diversion Road, Ma-a, Davao. It is located in the same area as the Crocodile Farm. It is best to go to the Butterfly House early in the morning so you can watch the newly-hatched butterflies spread their wings for the first time. The PEC do their bird feeding towards mid-morning so you can see the raptors' bad table manners. :)
If you do go to Paradise Resort be sure to try their Durian Shake, it is delicious. If you go malling, I suggest you also check out Victoria Mall in Bajada. It is a personal favorite of mine (outside of Aldavinco, that is) because they have some good pasalubongs and there is a Blue Gre outlet on the GF of Landco Bldg.across the road. BTW, aside from the durian coffee also try their durian cheesecake:)

That's a very good suggestion monins...
and for winzkie; if you'll take a jeeney ride, tell the driver that you're dropping at km 10 sasa, just tell him specifically your going to paradise island. from the hi-way you have to walk around 30 - 40 meters leading to your boat ride. from there it will only take around 20 minutes to paradise beach resort. BTW what part of talicud island are you planning to go? for the starting point to talicud is sta. ana wharf located at magsaysay park in city proper. it takes 55 minutes to take you there and the boat leaves at 9:00AM for "isla reta" and be back at 3:00PM this is a good place for couples who wants an overnight stay. its better for you to stay at paradise island., there is another option; you may hire a boat from paradise to talicud but it will cost you around Four to Five Thousand, and its not a good advice if you're alone for the waters in the gulf is quite rought during the afternoon. i'll try to call Casa Ruby its a B&B to how much it cost for a single accomodation. Park Square Inn is around 700.00 for singgle accomodation, located at quimpo boulevard near ecoland terminal.

:) Sitting under the shade watching the waves and eating kinilaw and drinking cold beer is one of the most relaxing things to do on Paradise 9aside from drinking durian shake, that is).
Right Carlito?

during the kadayawan month medyo mahal ang pomelo maybe around 80 to 90 pesos but after the festival it will drop to 40 to 50 pesos. Try PF day tour it will cost you around 1,500.00 pesos.
