| Amsterdam | short-term storage in Amsterdam Posted: Wed June 25, 2008 05:59 PM UTC
I will be living in Amsterdam for two months, then leaving the city for 10 or so days before I return and take a train from Amsterdam to Prague where I'll be living for the following three months.
I'm trying to figure out what to do with a carry-on size rolling bag and a guitar in a travel case during those ten days. Is there some sort of storage company I could use? Or is there a shipping company that will hold those items and then ship them to Prague after I have arrived there? (I can't ship things early.) Thanks! Andrew |

10 days is not that short-term, I have concluded.
Train station luggage lockers are for a maximum of 72 hours. The luggage lockers at Schiphol Airport are for a maximum of 168 hours (7 days). There's a hefty fee if you leave your luggage longer. At NS train stations the luggage will be removed and sent to Lost and Found where you can pick it up for 70 euro, in addition to the daily fees. I would advise: 1. To ask if you can leave your luggage at the address where you are staying in Amsterdam for 2 months 2. Try Citybox: http://www.citybox.com/indexfe26.html?pageReq=vest You could rent a box there (the Mini) for 12,50 euro per month.

Hi,
I've not used this facility myself but they might offer what you're looking for: http://www.huureenbox.nl Close to Amstel Station. You can rent per month, smallest size is 1 m2, allegedly 8 euro. Cheers Dennis

There is a luggage depot at the Central Station. 6 Euro's per day.

PJ... Not a good idea!
This person wants to store for 10 days. Train stations do a maximum of 72 hours (3 days). If you leave it longer, the luggage will be removed and taken to Lost & Found. You pay 70 euro on top of the daily fee.

AT,
It is a good idea, but the NS-website is not clear in this: <Op een aantal stations zonder bagagekluizen, stalt u uw bagage bij een bagagedepot of bij een Rijwielshop of Fietspoint. U betaalt hiervoor 6 euro per kalenderdag of dagdeel.> I'll check on the upcoming VT-meeting is the good old depot at the East-side still is there and what the local rules are. PJ
