Hi,
We´re planning a trip to Japan in August (for 3 weeks total) and want to visit islands but are doubting between Ishigaki or Okinawa. Any suggestions ayone? We just want to do beach & relax, not too crowdy ... Many thanx ... Puffie |

That's an apples/oranges question. Ishigaki is smaller and definitely off the beaten path, but has some of the best beaches in the Yaeyamas. That said, in August, they may be just as crowded as any other beaches in Okinawa because of this. Okinawa, on the other hand, has more than 60 beaches to choose from and I am sure you can find one with nearly no people on it. I always could. One other thing, if you haven't made arrangements for lodging already, Ishigaki may be limited on places to stay if you don't plan early.
