My husband and I will be visiting Istanbul for the 1st time, arriving on July 7th and leaving on the 10th of July. Our stay will be short and therefore we would like hire a guide for one day to help us see as much as possible. It's not a big task going around the highlights of Istanbul due to a very comprehensive transportation network. Plus, most of the popular highlights are beside each other in Sultanahmet area (Blue Mosque and the Hippodrome, Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sophia, Sunken basilica, and museums). You can finish these in 2 days, then you could work your way on other stuff like crossing the Bosphorous by ferry onto the mouth of the Black Sea, or walk along the Galata Bridge onto the tower, or walk along Istiklal Cadessi and chillout at night.
