I notice that if I indicate my country of residence as Chile, the round-trip fare from Santiago to Easter Island is cut from $791 USD to $308 USD. Can I book it via the Chile website and will they honor the ticket for an American?

I don't know about Chile, but in my country my American friends can't purchase local airtickets with an American (foreign) credit card. I buy the tickets for them and just put my address. Sorry that is no real help but I just wanted to mention that it may not be as easy as listing your country. You may get rejected on the credit card number. Good luck!

i also think you might experience problems. otherwise, everybody could do the same thing. you would probably need a chilean address, etc in your personal details.

Yes, you can use the Chile site. There is no difference in fares by nationality, there are different LAN fares in different countries because of how it is set up in each one. If you have any problem with the sale going through you phone them. Note that some fares are for on the ground local purchase only but they are also available to everyone. The same is true for Sky airlines.

There is/are a/several thread(s) on this in the Peru forum.
As I said there, I never experienced any problem using the local LAN (Peru) website with my (Dutch) credit card.

We have booked flights several times this way and never got any problem either :-)
By the way; the fares mentioned, are they round trip or one way ? We also booked a flight to Easter Island in October and pay 1.633 USD for two persons (all included), which comes roughly down to about 400 USD per leg per person.

Heelp!
Still I wasn't able to book my flight with LAN in August with the lower prices. I bought myself a credit-card (master-card) to book the flight over the website enjoy-peru. But then I found out they only accept Visa as credit card. It dosn't matter if I access the Chilean, Peruvian, Mexican or whatever version of the site. Either I get the higher prices or I get an error message after sending the informations of the last step (credit card informations). I get kicked back to the second last step (name and type of paying) and an information like the following occurs: "Missed or invalid Information found, please try another paying method" I also tried to enter Peru as my country of origin and enter a valid Peruvian address or every possible combination between swiss and peruvian options. Everytime the same message! The only two fields I wasn't shure what to fill in were the one with "RUC" inside and the empty one beside of it. Somehow I think the site just shouldn't do that, as you're really able to select the lower prices with all informations about your origin in a correct way on the Peruvian site of Lan.
