| New York City | Public Transit from Newark area to NYC Posted: Mon June 23, 2008 09:16 PM UTC
Coming to NYC in July and were going to stay with a friend but it turns out we are now staying in the Courtyard Marriott by Jersey gardens in Newark (friend works at marriott so its $39 a night for us!) so we can park there but now I am trying to figure out how to quickly and cheaply get into the city daily. We will do at least one round trip in each day (4 people) and at least one night we won't be headed back to our hotel until around 2-3am. Please help I am driving myself crazy trying to sort out and plan various options. Thanks!

The only public transportation to Jersey Gardens is the bus, but it doesn't run past 1am or so.
Enjoy!

We will have a car so I wondered about driving to NJ Transit or PATH stations but wondered about availability and cost of parking and safety returning late at night. Any advice?

Take the Hotle Shuttle bus to the Airport then take the Airport Mono Rail to to the NJ transit station -- it is free. Take the NJ Transit train -- not Amtrak to NYC Penn Station -- three stops. $15.00 each way.
