| Seattle | Where can I buy snow joggers (Boots) in Seattle Posted: Mon June 23, 2008 12:21 PM UTC
Hello,
I live in the UK & will be visiting Seattle next Month. I am staying there for a week before taking an Alaskan Cruise. I would be grateful if anybody could advise where I could purchase a pair of ladies snow jogger Boots from whilst I am in Seattle. I can get them here in the UK but would prefer to wait & save on luggage allowance. I am staying in the Queen Anne district. Any response would be gratfully appreciated. Thanks |

Look for the REI shops. They sell all sorts of outdoor gear and are a very popular chain. I know there is one in downtown Seattle... not that far from Queen Anne. Everything there will seem like a bargain with the great exchange rate!

Wow, thanks for a speedy & helpful reply.
Do you happen to know what sort of weather I should expect this time next month in Seattle? I fly 4 wks tomorrow & have heard so many different things. I know layers seems to be the main advice, but is there any need to bring Shorts or 3/4 pants, ie Capri's. Or am I being to optamistic there? I know what I need for Alaska, more or less sorted there I think, but just confused for Seattle. Also, what about evenings in Seattle, is it mainly quite casual, ie Jeans & T Shirts? Any help would be great. Kind regards

My son has lived in Seattle for about 15 years, so I've been to visit many times. I'm a former New Yorker but now live near London. The weather in Seattle is pretty much like what we have here in the UK. Summers are usually very nice and can be very hot but not usually. It's really hard to predict, so layers *are* a good way to think. I doubt you will need anything more than a jumper or light jacket in the evenings or during the day. It's a very casual city so except for fancier restaurants downtown, you can really wear anything and be comfortable. I once went to Alaska in late August, and it was pretty chilly but not cold. It's the most beautiful place.. just extraordinary. Have a wonderful trip!

Hello
Thank you so much for your advice. That's helps a great deal. I honestly had it in my mind that it would be freezing cold & that I would need lots of winter clothes, so obviously I was woried about the luggage allowance. My mind is made up now, thanks to you. I will take vest tops / T Shirts & a couple of zip up sweaters. That way I'm covered for whatever. I plan on buying a waterproof jacket of sorts once I'm over there. So that's another layer, in case it rains. Thanks once again, for your help. Kind regards

I was glad to be of help. You won't freeze, and having a rain jacket is a great idea as you never know when there's a damp or chilly day in that area.. or in Alaska. We were last in Seattle about 18 months ago (January) and it was pretty mild and no rain at all. It's like England. :-)
