| Amsterdam | Train from Amsterdam To Paris Posted: Mon June 23, 2008 09:53 AM UTC
I will be in Amsterdam in November, planning on also going to Paris. What is the most affordable and best way to travel to Paris? I assume the train, but since it has been so long since I've been there, I appreciate any advice.

Good morning, www.thalys.com has train information.
OR the official American site which is : http://www.raileurope.com/us/rail/thalys/index.htm Darren.

"the most affordable and best way..."
These are not the same thing. The Thalys high speed train is the quickest, getting you there in about three hours in modern comfort. But it's fairly expensive. Eurolines bus is probably the cheapest, but takes ages, and it's a bus. Gag. Last I was there , the bus departed from Amstel Station. A compromise would be the regular express train. It takes twice as long as the Thalys, 6 hours or so, but it's comfortable and quite a bit less expensive.

The most affordable is www.eurolines.nl; a bus service.

Eurolines has a ticket office on Rokin, just outside of Dam Square.

If you book about 3 months ahead, there will be TGV (fast train) tickets available from Amsterdam to Paris at 25 euro one-way. Book as soon as the cheap tickets become available.
I've done a search for you at www.tgv.com and http://www.nshispeed.nl/en At www.tgv.com (which directs you to Rail Europe), a one-way ticket end of September, costs 57 euro/88 USD At http://www.nshispeed.nl/en (English version of the Dutch international railway site), a one-way ticket end of August is 33 euro/51 USD.
