| Zürich | Which train ticket? Posted: Mon June 23, 2008 05:01 AM UTC
Hi there,
I'm landing in Zurich soon and would like to spend the morning in the town before heading to Konstanz. Which train ticket to buy and which connection to choose? Can I buy ticket to Konstanz via Zurich? Do you have any idea about the price (for two adults and two kids)? Also, can I but tickets at the airport using Euros, or need to exchange to Swiss CHF? Any tips on where to buy some Appenzeller and Greyerzer and what price to expect there? I appreciate your help! |

will give you timetables and fare info. You simply choose the train which best suits your needs. There are direct trains, and some with one or two changes. Journey time is 1hr+ It makes sene to choose the fastest journey, but that depends on what time you will be able to get the train. You don't need to buy tickets online beforehand unless it' a 'reservation-only train. You can just buy them at the station, either a return or one-way. Don't use euros to buy anything, even if it is possible: the rate will not be good. Always use the local currency.

On your way from the railway-station at the airport to the departure-terminal you will pass a huge shopping-mall in the basement; there is a big cheese-shop, where you will find all kinds of Swiss cheese.Nearby, also in the passageway, there is also a supermarket, where it may be somewhat cheaper.

Buy a ticket Zürich Airport - Konstanz via Zürich Hbf. The ticket office will be able to help you. You can buy your tickets using Euros, but the ticket office also accepts all major credit cards, which will give you a better exchange rate.
There are plenty of trains running from Zürich to Konstanz (see www.sbb.ch) and you ticket will be valid on all of them. Just head for Konstanz when you are done with Zürich. There is a big shopping centre in Zürich HBf (the main station) where you will certainly be able to buy cheese. Shops will accept Euro, but will give change in SFR, and will not give a good exchange rate, so maybe you better use a credit card.
