Is this the same dump as the one that caught the attention of the Australian from Holly wood and he set up a charity to get children out of it? savethe cambodian children, or something similar?

Hi,

This Facebook group is run by volunteers who have worked for KDFO which is an orphanage for kids who work at the dump. If you send a message to Hannah or one of the others they should be able to give you some info.

I am not a member of Facebook. I was asking if any fellow VT members have ever did volunteer work there. And what their experiences were like. I've seen pictures on both Pbase and flickr and was wondering about doing some volunteer work and making a photo-essay.

The people who run the Facebook group are ex-volunteers- they are a group of people who have volunteered at the orphanage near Stung Meanchey for 6 months, teaching english etc. Having been there for 6 months I imagine they'd be able to give you a lot of useful information. I worked in Cambodia last year and lived with a few people who were volunteering there. They would be able to tell you their experiences and contact details for KDFO (the organisation who run the orphanage.) Facebook is easy to join- you could always just leave again. I can't think of another way to contact a group of people who have volunteered there for a decent amount of time- as opposed to people who stay for a couple of days or a week.

Well, maybe I'll join Facebook solely for this reason. Btw, I am considering this for a few days as part of a generalized side trip to Cambodia from Bangkok, Thailand.
