| Barcelona | Vine yard visits Posted: Sat June 21, 2008 04:37 PM UTC
I and 3 friends are looking to organise a weekend visit to the barcelona wine regions, to sample the wines. Has anyone any contact names/links that i could have a look at. We would be looking at Bed and Breakfast type of accomadation
Thanks |

In lieu of a follow up response - I found many winery postings in VT. Easiest way to find them is:
- go to Google - Select Advanced Search from the right of the search text box - next to the "All these words" label enter "winery barcelona" - go down to the last box where it states "Search within a domain ..." and enter virtualtourist.com You will several results on Barcelona winery tips. Hope this helps!

Nomad's answer is a really good one - I've not tried searching like that before, and it works! You could also try searching, using the same method, for 'bodegas' or for particular places where you know they make wines, (eg. San Sadurni, Alt Penedes)... or for manufacturers (eg Freixenet, Torres).
I have a review of the Freixenet tour on my own page (no pictures yet, sorry!), and there are lots of other great reviews of bodega tours on this site, too. Belsaita's pages (as always) are one of the best for this, and her tips include websites for the bodega towns; if you follow the links you can also find various places to stay.

Thank you suzwa. I use Google in my work to search for technical information - their engine is great. You can use it in a similar manner to search other web sites. Thanks again for your comment!

Hola,
The most important area of wines near Barcelona is Penedes, there you can find some of the most important wineries of the area. I know that there's some tours were you can taste wine, cava (the Catalonian champagne, is really good) and you can visit also the modernist buildings, that are wonderful. This web site can be useful for you http://www.altpenedes.net/en/ You can arrive to Vilafranca del Penedes by train from Barcelona but, in my opinion, it will be much better if you rent a car and drive though the N-340 road direction to the South. You'll pass trough the vineyards and little towns where you can stop for buying some wine. And if you want to go farther you can go to Tarragona region, where you can find a lot of good wines too. Personally I’ll advise you to go to Gandesa, which is a beautiful town with very good wines. Enjoy! Pili
