| Rio de Janeiro | Is 2.5 days in Rio enough? Posted: Thu June 19, 2008 04:15 PM UTC
Hi,
I am planning my trip in South America. Right now I am flying in and out of Rio, so that I have 2.5 in Rio. Is that enough to have a good look around? I might have the option of 1 more day, which in turn would cut my days in Iguazu Falls from 3 to 2? Do you have any recommendation? Cheers. |

This is all a matter of a opinion. I would say definitely not. You will be so disappointed only having 2 days or even 3. One week minimum required.
Also you don't need 3 days in Iguazu. If you just go one one side of the falls (Argentina or Brasil) you only need one full day. If you want to see both then 2 day.

It depends on what you are hoping to experience. Are you doing an "if-it's Tuesday-this-must-be-Belgium" (maybe ask your parents about this film about rushed European tourists who even lose sight of what city they're in) kind of tour? To check off a couple of famous vista points on some list, yeah, 2.5 days in Rio would do it. To get a minimum feel for one of the most exciting and beautiful cities in the world, spend 4-5 days. Check out the info and maps on www.ipanema.com for lots of good info about clubs, neighborhoods, etc.
I would suggest 3 days for Iguacu. Two of these include travelling in and out. If you only have two half days, you may have time to quickly get some photos from both sides. Boa viajem.

2.5 years in Rio would not be enough. Seriously, if this is all the time you have then spend two days in Iguasso and three in Rio. Even one week will not be enough to experience Rio and the day trip options within a couple of hours from the city.

2.5 day's in Rio is OK. More would be better.....but....
You should NOT reduce the days spent in Iguassu Falls. One day Brazil side and another for the Argentina side. Day 3 is probably for travel in and out. In Rio see Corcovado and Sugar-Loaf, Copacabana and Ipanema. In the 2.5 day's in Rio you should get a good feel of the city.
