| Goa | Islands in Goa Posted: Thu June 19, 2008 03:22 PM UTC
Hi,
I'm planning to visit Goa in December. I'm mostly interested in islands not extremely far from the coast ( not more than 24 hours with a boat ). Can anyone suggest an island to visit. I'm looking for a place with a minimum amount of people ; ). Thank you all so much. Marion |

Hi - you can try Lakshadweep. You can go out of Cochin (not Goa) by plane or boat. Be aware that only some islands are open to tourists and even less of them to non-Indians. Check http://lakshadweep.nic.in/ for further info. Happy Travels!

There are lot of remote beaches around Goa as well. You can go beyond Vagator in North Goa to beaches such as Arambol, Kalacha etc.
In south Goa the options could be Canacona Islands. If not looking closer to Goa then the suggestions given by Donna in the above post can be followed to the core.

There are only a few very small islands off the Goan coast, which as basically rocks in the sea and not really worth visiting.
However, I am sure you will find lots of other things to interest you throughout the province.

Hi
There's a couple of islands off the coast of Karwar about 40mins drive from Palolem then 20 minutes by boat. One I've been to is called Kurumgad Island with log cabins or tent accommodation. V eco friendly, little cove to swim or fish from and dolphins everywhere.
