| Zaragoza | EXPO 2008 Zaragoza Posted: Thu June 19, 2008 03:00 PM UTC
Hello!
Was wondering if there was anyone who has visited Zaragoza's EXPO 2008 that could review it's highlights/low points? I'm planning on traveling to the EXPO next month and was hoping to learn some pointers about visiting the site from someone who has already experienced it! Thanks! Winkd2 |

Expo-mark! I'm planning to go there on July as well
(it opened less than one week ago, so maybe it's a bit early to get reviews)

Hi...I plan to go the day after tomorros(Saturday). A friend of us is coming so weŽll go.
At the moment reviews I have heard are more or less o.k....I must admit I have some doubts. The German building has got the best reviews. By the way, temperature this afternoon right now in Zaragoza is 38 degrees(centigrades) so get plenty of sun-block cream. If I finally go there on Saturday, I will write another answer here, o.k? There are some other things to see in Zaragoza if you stay here more than one day or two...Big square with two cathedrals, arab ancient palace "Aljaferia"...adn we have a VERY GOOD local beer, sold in every bar of the city "Ambar". :-) Have fun.

Hi again.
Finally I didnŽt make it this saturday. Our friend felt a bit sick in the morning so we`ll go another day. But we have talk to many people who has been there. I can sum up that there are many interesting things, but during the weekends it is FULL of people. LONG ques and extreme hot, at leas this weekend. It has been the first real weekend here...but now July and August are even hotest months, and most of spaniards get their holidays during those two months...so, if you can skip weekends I guess it may be better for you. Japan, Germany, Morocco, the bridge of the third millenium are getting the best reviews so far. I guess you already now the official website, but just in case. http://www.expozaragoza2008.es/index.jsp?seccion=3 Bye.

Hello, as I told you we visited the Expo yesterday. Here is my report:(Please, beware, it is just my personal opinion, probably other persons would think in a completly diferent way. But I will try to be objective)
I hope the main purpouse of your visit to Spain is not to visit the Expo. "If" you are around here, it may be worthy to visit. The "famous" pabillions(Spain, Germany, Japan) are very dificult to visit. We were not in the mood of waiting hours before the buildings. There are many pabillions with no ques(or just a reasonable one, 10-15 minuts) and some are interesting, some are not. I liked: Morocco, Africa(but thatŽs personal, it is my favourite continent...they have not many things inside), Thailand, Lybia. Even being sunday, bars, services and most of the things were not overcrowed, probably because it was a bit cold, and I guess that many of the locals with "season ticket" have been here some times, so they are not coming as at the beguinning. We entered at 10:15, and left at 18:30. We have another ticket and weŽll use it for a saturday, but weŽll go in the afternoon and weŽll stay until the closing time to watch the spectacles at night. There are diferent shows every night. I almost forgot. We liked the "circus of the sun"(Circ de soleil in french?). There is a parade everymorning at 12.00. So this is all, I hope this information will be helpfull..ask me if you want more information.

Thnaks for the update!
Did you use the "Fast Pass" to see any of the pavilions? If so, how did it work?

I didn`t use the fast pass, but I saw how it works. There is a screen and you choose which building you want to visit(it is like an atm) and then the system shows the schedule where there is room for you, you select the number of persons, and then the machine "reads" the code bar in your ticket and it books for you.
http://www.expozaragoza2008.es/Elrecinto/Informaci I couldnŽt find it in english(do you speak some spanish?), but I think youŽll get an idea. The list at the bottom are the buildings that are offered by the system, as you can see not all of them are in the list. (Not germany, Japan or Spain the main ones) The Spain pavillin has is own fast pass system at the building, and in the list says that the Acuario is mandatory(obligatorio) to use the fast pass to enter. The arrows in the map say where the fast pass screens are, and we saw long lines where the red arrow, as there is where most of the people enter at the Expo,so they go to those ones. bye.
