We intend leaving our car at the lower skyrail station and taking the cable car up the mountain. We shall then return by the railway. I am wondering how one travels from the lower railway station to the skyrail station, in order to get back to our car. It looks like it is not within walking distance. Many thanks.

The only people that I met that did the same as you are planning had a pre-arranged ride. There are no shuttles that go between the two, and there is no public bus nearby.

It might cost you a couple dollars, but the easiest would probably just have a taxi companies phone number and call it when you arrive at the station.

We did this trip last year. When we got off the train there were shuttle buses waiting to take you back to your car, at the Skyrail station, where we had left it that morning. As I recall when we booked we paid a few dollars extra for this transfer. I think on their website it talks about transfers from Freshwater to Carvonica (sp?), and I think that is the package option you need to select. I also recall being a bit nervous about whether we were getting off at the right place. It wasn't that intuitive about where to disembark, so check when you book.

we took the sky rail up and the train down . you must get off the cableway at each stop -so much to see. allow a few hours in kuranda for lunch. the trip needs a whole day. we took a bus from cairns to the skyrail.
