Ok, just one last ?. What is the quickest way to get from LAX to West Hollywood, West Sunset Blvd and North Highland? I don't want to take a taxi so either buses or trains, does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi Jo, The following website shows you all public transportation available from the Airport, Darren. http://www.toandfromtheairport.com/losangeles.html

On that site, you want the "Train" area for North Highland. The stop on the Red Line is at Highland/Hollywood Boulevard and, from LAX, it will require a transfer to the Blue Line at Wilmington, then another transfer to the Red Line at Metro Center, but will still be faster than the bus.
For West Sunset, it's best to use the Big Blue Bus and transfer through Santa Monica. Actually, I guess it depends on how far West on West Sunset you're going. For "West Hollywood," do you mean the street? West Hollywood is a large neighborhood and includes what could be considered West Sunset.

By far the quickest and smartest way is as follows:

LAX: under the green sign, pick up the "FlyAway" bus labeled "Union Station". This bus runs every half hour, and every hour late night(and bypasses the glacially slow green line/blue line metros). $4 dollars each way, direct to Union Station. At Union Station, take the red line subway with the heading "No Hollywood". 20 min. to "Hollywood and Highland". Exit here. You are two blocks north of the intersection of Highland and Sunset.

So easy.

I live in the hood, and that is how I travel back and forth to LAX. It's the only way to go.

Total cost: $5.25 each way.

I'll be in San Francisco, this weekend, following my advice in reverse ;)

BART is the best way from SFO to downtown SF, depending on where you are staying. Also, if you like jazz my friend is having her CD release party/concert this Sunday and Monday at the Rrazz room in the Nikko Hotel in downtown SF.
