New Delhi Currency

Will be traveling to Bangalore soon. What is the best rate method to exchange currency? Should I purchase rupees here in the US, or should I wait until I get to India, and go to a bank or currency exchange? How about selling back rupees? Thanks!

i will wait till i arrive at the airport to change money. ATM gives you the best exchange rates. I would not change into rupees in the USA. Rupee is one of the few currencies that have not gone up against the dollar. in the big cities there are multiple money changers and the rates are good.

You cannot buy Rupees outside of India. When you arrive and just before you leave the secure area there is a Thomas Cook currency exchange. Buy some Rupees before you leave the airport.

Use the ATM's for the best rates.
Carry USD $'s for when you cannot find an ATM easily.
Try and carry only mint crisp notes with no tears or writing on the notes.

Hi,

Convert only whatever is essential (for Cabs etc)at the Airport as at the Airport ,one tends to get lower rates, most Hotels exchage dollars and the rates are dispalyed at the reception

You will also find money exchages at various places and depending on the rates displayed can buy Indian RS.
