Hi
We're thinking about visiting Peterhof in mid October. Will the statues be wrapped up or removed for winter. -- Are the fountains liable to be running. What will the weather be. - Is it worth waiting until spring/summer when the prices are higher Can someone please help me? |

It doesn't usually snow in St. Petersburg till November but the fountains are stopped from mid-October and the statues boarded up by the end of that month (and Monplaisir is closed in the Winter). That is why prices are higher May-October when everything is open/running. Average October temperature is about 5°C. Organised tours replace Peterhof by Pushkin/Pavlovsk in Winter.

Yes, the fountains will close in the Fall. But the Peterhof palace and museum will be open. There is an opening of fountains in May and summer gives the best chance of seeing them on a warm day. In summer you can take a fast boat from downtown St. Petersburg to Peterhof, a secenic and enjoyable trip. Summer would be the best if you can swing it!
