Trying to predict the weather can be difficult because of local on the day variations.
This information should be used as a guide only. Here is the average weather for Montego Bay for this time of year. Enjoy your holiday. August. High 87f / 31c Low 77f / 25c

Presuming you are flying to Jamaica, yes, you do need a passport
http://www.travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/cis/cis_1147.html Right now the wait time is estimated at 4 weeks, if you have to expedite it, you have to pay an additional $60. http://travel.state.gov/passport/get/processing/pr

I have always liked Negril better than Montego Bay. Negril has no high-rise buildings, nothing taller than a palm tree. The beach in Negril is almost 7 miles long with every imaginable places to stay or visit.
The West End of Negril is filled with tiny restaurants and bars. A place called "Mi Yard" is open for food, music drinks and dancing 24/7. www.miyard.com Go to Rick's Cafe to watch sunset and see the cliff diver put on a show. There is a live band at Rick's every evening. There are late night Disco's and live music every night. And within an hours drive alot of nature parks and mineral springs with waterfalls and pools. Enjoy!
