Ubud is a great place. Three great museum: Neka, Arma and Blanco. All are worth seeing and very resonable.
Restaurants are great: Cinta - great Mojito's and ribs (right on Monkey Forrest Road)
Cafe Lotus - best view, definitely worth a stop. Right near Temple in center of town
Cafe des Artistes on Bisma, great steaks. its near Roda Internet who has the best prices and the best computers. Also some great Artist shops nearby. This is a little side street which is just past the Cafe Lotus
Hire a driver/guide. Do not just hire a driver off the street. We have used Merta for the last 3 years, very honest, trustworthy and really knows the area:

he will definitely make your trip better. john

Dear Justine,

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding and best wishes for a long and happy life. Bali is a wonderful place to honeymoon. You and your husband will almost certainly have the most memorable trip of your entire lives coming to Bali.

My advice to you would be to check the home and travel pages of those Virtual Tourist members who make Bali their home. Within the sum of their tips and recommendations you will find a gold mine of information which can only add to your enjoyment while here in Bali. This is particularly true when it comes to restaurant recommendations, as those of us who live here are more inclined to be very up to date on which are the best.

Also, once here, pick up a copy of The Bali Advertiser, and The Bali Times. Both are free English language newspapers which are geared towards expats living in Bali. Both are free and are easily found in most circle K convenience stores, book stores, markets, etc. It would be no problem to ask one of the bell boys in any of the hotels you will be staying to go out and fetch you a copy. Also, there is an excellent magazine called TheYak which regularly features new restaurants and current happenings.

You are lucky in that your trip coincides with the Bali Arts Festival. This annual event is not to be missed. Again, your concierge will be able to provide all the information of specific activities and performances during the Bali Arts Festival. The festival ends July 15.

Once again, congratulations, and have a wonderful time.

Congratulations hope all goes well for your special day. I would suggest as you pass through immigraiton pick up some of the brochures and make your own itinerary then hire a driver. I have been told that the new Wildlife Park is excellent we havent been to it so only had the info from other people in our hotel when we were there in Feb this year. See if you can get hold of the glossy Hello Bali at your hotel this has lists fo bars restaurants etc. Kuta beach on Sunday is a good day to see ll th elocals out and about. There are so many markets I suggest you grab a cab and get dropped off Seminyak or Legian and just walk the whole length of Legian back down to Tuban you will pass hundreds of shops and cover lots of restaurants and bar.
