plenty of train timing to go to Fatima. we went there in once in January and the train station was deserted!!! fortunately there are some cabs (which there was only 2 when we were there) and we managed to book him to take us into the basilica area and return. It is a fair bit of distance away from the train station.

Better by bus. I think the train st is far from the town.
The buses do not leave from Arco do Cego anymore. They leave from Sete Rios bus station (metro Jardim Zoologico). There are plenty of buses every day, either to Fatima as final destination, or to the farther north Leiria with a stop in Fatima.

The Fatima railway station is 15 miles/24km from town, so go by bus!
Buses operate about every hour every day. The journey takes about 90 minutes. You can get the times and fares at www.rede-expressos.pt reservations are highly recommended if there are any special events at Fatima. Also note that the Sete Rios bus terminal in Lisbon is some distance from the city centre, so allow plenty of time to get there.
