One day in Lauderdale

I will be flying back from Europe and arriving at Fort Lauderdale's airpot. I have about a 7 hour layover before flying to dallas and then to denver. I am curious about possibly leaving the airport and doing some quick shopping or grabbing some good food. What would be the closest places to go and would it be accessible by the Tri Rail? Anyone have some suggestions?

I'm not sure about Tri Rail, but Sawgrass Mills is a massive outlet mall and the Galleria is a very nice mall. You may even want to go to the Beach. Along the ocean there are many restaurant.
