Toronto Romantic Restaurants?

I'm sure this has been asked a million times and I apologize in advance for my laziness, but, isn't it what this website is here for?
I'm looking for a romantic restaurant anywhere in Toronto. However, by romantic i do not mean the SN Tower restaurant which seems to me to be a tourist trap. I'm talking about that exclusive place with amazing food where one would take a lover for a very private dinner. thanks in advance!

Hi Irina, you may want to try chowhound.com. I always check the "chow" before I hit a new city. Karl

Canoe and Auberge du Pommier of the Oliver & Bonacini group are both very nice and very different. Canoe is on the 54th floor of the downtown TD Tower - great views of the city at night (not revolving!), and Auberge du Pommier is cottage-like with fireplaces and intimate, plus it has a covered patio area. (Yonge St./N. of York Mills).

More casual is Paradiso's, Oakville, (Navy St./Lakeshore Drive) - nice because after dinner you can stroll down to the lake/marina and through the 'old town'.

Hi Irina,

Toronto is very diverse city and abounds with restaurants of different ambiance and cuisine... italian, asian, mediteranean, you name it, we have it. I think we can help you better if we know the type of food you & your honey likes and also the part of the city where you would be to narrow down your search.

just my thoughts!

Another vote for Canoe and Auberge du Pommier. Another one is Celestin on Mt. Pleasant south of Eglinton. Then there is Scaramouche off of Avenue road south of St. Clair.Four very good restaurants with different atmosphere's. At Scaramouche you need a window table for the romantic atmosphere . Very good wine selections . Check the menu's .

I agree with Michelle, we need to narrow it down a bit! And it also depends on your price range.
If you don't mind dropping a few bucks, try Mistura (Italian at Avenue/Davenport) area or Thuet (French at King street west).
Thuet has a more of a romantic atmosphere but they're both good high end restaurants. I was at both recently and they're excellent.

The problem with some of the restaurants in T.O is that they're not all that consistent.

I don't consider Fred's not here is a romantic spot. It can be fun but you won't get quiet cozy.

I love food... Feel free to email me for any specific details!

All of the suggestions are great ones.... but

My favourite romantic spot (with great wine list and great prices, though not as quite as fancy as some of the others) is Le Select Bistro.

They have these sweet little croissant shaped booths that are perfect for sitting side by side, holding hands under the table and gazing longingly at your date.

Merci mon petit chou!
I'll have to check it out.
LOVED them when they were on Queen!
If it's the same food and atmosphere, it's definitely a great choice for a romantic rendez vous!

Yes... OUI OUI/

Same owner, great chef!

I will warn you though, I'm told often by those who USED to dine at the Le Select when it was on Queen St. that they dislike the new location (no hanging bread baskets)becaue it isn't THE REAL Le Select.

The old location is before my time here so ignorance is bliss!

Hey, we should set up a small "meet and drink" this summer for all us crazy T.O. kids!

I would say Panorama on the 51st floor of the Manulife Centre at Bay and Bloor.

"Best cocktails, best view, most romantic ... the Toronto press rave about Panorama. Set atop the 51st floor of the Manulife Centre at Bay and Bloor, Panorama offers guests a stunning view of both uptown and downtown Toronto as well as two of the country's highest patios. Our award winning cocktail menu and full dinner menu, created by Executive Chef Scott Doust, are matched with unsurpassed service for a truly outstanding experience."

I've been there a couple of times myself, as Panorama and as it's former incarnation, Aquarius 51... On a summer evening, it's delightful. The breeze in your hair whilst admiring Toronto's skyline at night, cocktail in hand. Coupled with a hotel room in one of the nearby luxury hotels, it's a winner.
