Posted: Mon June 16, 2008 05:25 PM UTC
Hello!
Please, those who have been at Orchid Hotel in Hue tell me if it is far from ancient town? How much minuts walkin by foot? I will stay for 2 days in Hue. These hotel has good reviews but it seems situated too far from ancient town. or not?

How you find its location? Is it good? Is it noisy or not? If there are good restaurants and cafes? How is location in general? Will you advice chose these hotel or to look something better. Which you find better (price not higher 35 $)?

Hi, we stayed at the Binh Minh Sunrise 2 Hotel. It is budget accommodation, but we were well satisfied. Affordable and clean . Hair dryer and bar fridge in the room. Good, tasty breakfasts. Very friendly staff, speaks English well.
Provided professional travel service, arranging affordable private tour of tombs and Thien Mu Pagoda. Within walking distance of the Citadel.
I've got a photo of the room and contact particulars under tips on my Vietnam page if you're interested.

Brilliant hotel family run and the staff are great, rooms are well furnished breakfast is buffet style nothing fancy...The front is few minutes walk away the street is quite, there are some good eating places within a few minutes walk but you have to book are get in before 7.0pp they are very popular with the locals as well as tourist ..I have stayed there three times and I will be there on 2 to 3 rd of December book early and yes $35 is above the average but you only get what pay for there are "hotels" for $10 just off the front which I would say fine for backpackers but not if you want a decent night sleep, if your there at the same time let me know..

I stayed at Orchid hotel from July 2 to July 5, 2008. It's a very nice hotel, quiet, room is spacious, nicely furnished and equipped. Only one detail:When we first entered the room only I could detect a musty smell(my husband didn't notice it) which did go away after we stayed for one day. Staffs are very friendly. We walked from the hotel to citadel and it took us maybe 30 minutes each way. I would highly recommend on your way back to stop at restaurant Lac Thien (corner of Dinh Tien Hoang and Le Loi) for banh khoai a specialty of Hue (note: there are 3 restaurants next to each other and their name all starts with Lac). I liked nem lui of Thu on the wheels (I believe it's on Hung Vuong street). At the hotel, you can ask for Bun bo Hue for breakfast and it's quite good. In general, I would recommend it. They really try their best to please customers
