Hi,
We are planning to go to Kota Kinabalu for 5D4N (4 nights) in a couple of weeks and need some help with selecting a package (hotel and guided tour / mountain climb). We would like to stay in a "long house" for 1 night, stay on the mountain for 1 night and perhaps stay in the KK city / KK Park for the 2 nights. Please let us know if there is a good tour package available as we are going for the first time. Our budget is around 1500 MYR but if forced to increase, we might spend a bit more. I'm not sure about any longhouse stay in KK, unlike in Sarawak...but I came across a ad for a homestay at Rungus longhouse, in Kudat (thats more than 2 hours journey from KK).
As for the stay at the mountain, I would suggest that you put up at the Kinabalu park itself. There are several types of accomodation there. A little costly but it has an amazing view (really to die for view). http://www.suterasanctuarylodges.com.my/kinabalu_park.php

I took a 3D2N Mt Kinabaru and poring hot spring trip from Borneo wildlife travel agent as well as one day white water rafting. The arrangement was excellent. Let them know what you want for your tour and they can arrange for you. Look for Cecilla.
