Frankfurt Directions Please

We are arriving by train to Frankfurt, Germany and need to travel to the Airport. Could someone tell us what the easiest and most economical way would be? We have plenty of time for the trip to the airport.

Thank you,

Les W.

Frankfurt Airport train station is itself a major train station. Thus first you should check
a) if your train does not call at Frankfurt Airport before Frankfurt Hbf (main railway station).
b) if your train does not call at Frankfurt Airport after Frankfurt Hbf.
c) if you cannot take a train from your start point directly to Frankfurt Airport (e.g. from Munich there are direct trains to Frankfurt Hbf and direct trains to Frankfurt Airport which are using a completely different route).

Otherwise:
S-Bahn trains and regional trains from Frankfurt Hbf to Frankfurt Airport are EUR 3,60. Travel time is 11-13 minutes.

You don't really need plenty of time as trains run every 15 minutes from Frankfurt HBf, and take only 11 minutes to the Airport (station by Terminal 1)! It costs about €4.50 on the S-Bahn (lines S8 and S9), more on other types of train e.g. €11.50 on the ICE.
From Frankfurt Südbahnhof you can take bus 61, at least twice an hour, these take 30 minutes and I think they stop at both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.
