The area is safe, in Makati, the business heart of Metro Manila. Just take the ordinary precautions as in any "safe" place in the world. All the spots you mention are in Makati, walking distance, except The Fort, that is about 10min by taxi (Fort Bonifacio area, Taguig). A good spot for evening leisure is Greenbelt 3.

From your hotel, you need to take a cab if you are going to those places... at the Fort theres a Place there called Serendra where you can shop and dine...

Greenbelt may be enough for your evening gimik, for dining, music, coffee and people watching... wouldn't complicate your life, unless you'll find Greenbelt merely moderate, head straight to Malate area, friday and festival crowds can get really exciting.
Glorietta 1 to 4 are shopping malls adjacent to Dusit, along with SM Department Store. East of Glorietta is Landmark and Greenbelt is located farther east of Landmark. During the day, you can take an Intramuros guided tour (the walled 16th century Manila. You can also take a boat trip to Corregidor island off coast of Manila for remnants of the Japanese and american wars. hope these helps :-)

You only need a cab for the Fort area (aka Bonifacio or Global City). The Fort's also got the oh-so-hot Embassy scene where there's a club, restaurant and cafe where the super-cute play.
Intramuros is a good suggestion. I'd also add the Ocean Park aquarium (both require cabs from Dusit). There's also a decent, small collection in the Ayala Museum (Greenbelt 4, or maybe 3)

I think you're better off getting a rental car from the hotel to take you places. It's much safer too!
