Re: Fuel Strike Effects Posted: Sun June 15, 2008 12:28 PM UTC
the strike finished last thursday/friday and shipping services are back to normal. petrol didnt really run out, i dont understand why the media said that (they said so even in spain too) as cities have stored resources in case of emergency. it is true that fresh food (meat, fish, milk, fruit&vegetables) did run out soon after the strike started. but there werent problems regarding the rest of goods. Now, that was the situation last week. Fresh food was back to supermakets on saturday, just one day after they decided to stop the strike, and the country is now back in 'peace' (we were all worried about what would happen if this didnt stop soon). The only thing is that products are now a little bit more expensive than before, probably because farmers etc need to retrieve all the money they've lost seing their fruit, milk...going off at home. Don't know how long it'll take till prices drop back to normal, but you don't have to worry about availability anymore :)
