| Frankfurt am Main | luggage storage Posted: Sat June 14, 2008 05:49 PM UTC
I am looking for long term luggage storage and not sure what Frankfurt has to offer. I have seen both the train station and the airport webpages, but they dont seem to mention anything about long term storage. Thing is I am a student living in the area and want to travel around europe before heading home, althought i have several large suitcases, that I dont want to pack around, especially since i am considering flying ryanair. Does anyone happen to know if there are any places i could store the luggage for up to a month?
thanks for the answers. |

As you say you are living in the area, your best bet would be to find someone you know who is prepared to store your suitcases for you in their cellar or garage: if you leave them at a station left-luggage office or even (usually) coin-operated lockers you will pay by the hour/day! Alternatively, look for a removal/storage company like www.friedrich-schulze.de. Or, a company specialising in unaccompanied luggage that can send them back "home" for you.

The luggage storage info on Frankfurt Main airport's pages suggests you can leave things for up to 3 months (paid in advance, obviously):
http://www.airportcity-frankfurt.com/cms/default/r But if you are considering Ryanair, then you will be flying from Frankfurt Hahn. Their maximum is 28 days. http://www.hahn-airport.de/default.aspx?menu=Lugga You'll need a substantial amount of small change for this. As you will to use the lockers at Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof: http://www.bahnhof.de/site/bahnhoefe/de/sued/frank

The lockers at Hauptbahnhof are no option as they are only good for up to 72 hours. Afterwards the lockers are emptied.
http://www.bahnhof.de/site/bahnhoefe/de/sued/frank There is also a left luggage office at the Hauptbahnhof where you can store for longer. But this will be pretty expensive for the duration of a month. I also would suggest to look around for other options. Fellow students etc. who will store the luggage for you.

If I take the luggage storage in HBF, is it possible to operate it couple of time over the 72 hours or is it once use only? Being summer, I would like to move around the city with the bare minimum in my hand and come back twice to take the necessary stuff before I head back to airport.. Would this be possible or do I have to pay each time ?

In the moment you open the locker your rental ends. If you want to use it again you have to pay anew.
