Cagayan de Oro City PLS. ADVISE ITINERARY
Posted: Sat June 14, 2008 11:26 AM UTC
Dear Guys,

My bestfriend and I are planning to have an ultimate Mindanao adventure kaya lang kulang kami sa budget...We want to stay 4 days in Davao, 2 days in Cagayan de Oro,2 days in Camiguin & 4 days in Butuan. Kindly help us naman on how we can enjoy our 2 days vacation in Cagayan De Oro?

We have seen the CAGAYAN PARK VIEW LODGE (in between Burgos st. & N.Capistrano Street) w/c is very affordable for our 2 night stay..since room rates is only 300 pesos/night. Malapit lang ba ito sa bus terminal if we're coming from davao? Patulong naman on how can we get there para hindi kami maligaw..

Then kindly help us din kung saan ang best route if we're planning to go to certain attractions like:

White water Rafting (how much would be the cost?)
Macahambus Adv. Park
Gardens of Malasag Eco Tourism Village
Kagayan resort
Mapawa Nature Park
River taxi
Plaza Divisoria

Thanks!
JLARA

2 days in Cagayan de Oro is not enough if you are planning to go to all of these places. Unless you just plan to take photographs for a minute or two and then leave for the next itinerary. Anyway, Park View is located in the heart of downtown area (Divisoria) which is around 3 to 4 kilometers away from the Agora Bus terminal (terminal for Davao and east bound routes including Camiguin). See this site for details http://cdoguide.com/goingaround/taxi.html

Whitewater rafting will take half of your day. Cagayan de Oro Adventure rafting company offers 700 Pesos for beginners. If you want to include the Macahambus Adventure park you just add 200 Pesos, or a total of 900 Pesos per person (does not include food). I suggest you do the rafting in the morning so you would have enough time to go to the Macahambus park afterwards. As for Kagayan Resort, it only opens during weekends (Saturday and Sunday). Not sure if they now open 7 days a week. The resort is quite far from the city center and barely has public transpo around the area. Malasag Eco Village and Mapawa are basically in the same area. So go to these areas on the same day. Again Malasag and Mapawa are quite far from the city center. You might need half a day or even more. As for the River taxi, not sure if it still operates.

ey, welcome to cagayan de Oro hombres!!! or is it ladies?
good to know your comin to our land of promise...
anywayz to buziness...
(if your still not here yet this advice would help you a lot)

place to stay
BOARDING HOUSE STYLE:try the MASS-Spec Hostel near DVSoria. its a aircon room that can accomodate 4-6 people. costs: 250php with complimentary breakfast
HOTEL STYLE: try willshire inn 450php. large enough room, matrimonial bed, large enough bathroom with hot shower and water. clean too.

These are pretty close to the terminal. besides the fare here by jeep is only 7php and motorela is at 6php. taxi coming from terminal is around 60-80php only.
motorelas can travel from the agora terminal to these places. if the motorela driver says its too far then tell him that youll pay 10php each. taht'll do the job.

Just tell the motorela driver the name of the hotel.

For willshire Inn, the landmark is Maxandrea hotel and technomart store.
Mass-Specc im not too sure about it cause theres no land mark in sight. anyways just add COOPERATIVE na building...all drivers knows where it is.

from willshire Inn and Mass Specc malapitlang lahat sa night cafe ng dvsoria all walking distances. promise.

white water and makahambus are all in the same route.

malasag and mapawa all the same route din.

you can visit malasag first on your first day entrance fee:20php per person. tapos, proceed to mapawa entrance fee: 50php

sa malasag you dont need to have money after paying the entrance except when you want to buy souvenirs. all you need is a sturdy pair of legs, lungs and shoes. and of course your handy camera.

sa mapawa you need to spend money there if you want to try the different activities that they have: zip line, wall climbing (or is it tree climbing?) horseback riding, rapelling etc. they have different rates though but affordable.

white water costs depends on the length of your ride. the shorter it is the cheaper. but i suggest you get the longest route mas enjoy. and say to the river guides WILD not MILD. you wont regret it. choose the Great White Water Rafting company...(i forgot the numbers sorry!)they give you fair price! besides they are the only comp that gives the longest and the most daring rides. PLUS!! free lunch eat all you can. i've had them once with my family and friends and we absolutely blown away by the experience.

you can stop by on the way back to CDO proper at Makahambus Cave. theres an entrace fee for maintainance. i think its 50php now.

hope this helps.
may you tumbleweeds be blessed!!!
