| Las Vegas | The Palazzo Posted: Fri June 13, 2008 07:01 PM UTC
My friend and I are staying at the Palazzo next weekend for a few days. I have stayed in the Venetian before and found the best spots for cheap breakfasts, best slot machines, shopping freebies etc. Has anyone stayed here? I want to know what to check out in this hotel (for best/cheapest food, slots, freebies, discounts, etc). I have a Venetian Players club card. Thanks!

One of my friends just came back from staying at The Palazzo and said the rooms were nice, but not as nice as she thought they would be. For the best bang for your food buck, there is a new Grand Lux Cafe that is bigger than the one at the Venetian and nicer -- we were there in Feb., and though the service and food is still great at the GL at the Venetian, it's starting to look like it needs a reno. Having eaten at both I would say the food is slightly better at the Palazzo one.
We tried Carne Vino, Mario Batali's new restaurant at the Venetian and it was disappointing. Overall, I've heard his restaurants at the Venetian are more hype than substance. There is an Italian gelato place, I forget the name, but is on the main floor of the Palazzo, a franchise right from Italy. Pretty good gelato, plus they sell sandwiches and pastries. Shopping is extremely high end, so we didn't check much of that out ;o), but you're right across from the Fashion Show Mall anyhow. Good inexpensive eats is a hop skip and jump away at Wynn, called Fire and Ice. The Palazzo is spectacular, you'll have a great time.
