| Ho Chi Minh City | Former US Embassy Posted: Fri June 13, 2008 06:06 PM UTC
I have read that the VN War era Embassy was mostly demolished but that the front walls and some small buildings remain. I've also read that the entire Embassy was demolished and replaced by the new US Consulate building. Was one person's visit just made earlier than the other so the entire former US Embassy is now gone?
I am planning a VN tour, and some tour companies presently include "driving by the old US Embassy" as part of their tour. |

Those 2 statements are not really contradictory. The embassy was demolished but I seem to recall that at least part of the old wall remains. What those tour companies mean is "driving by the site of the old US Embassy", which is the same thing as "driving by the new US Embassy"....
