Hi,

Go to a search engine and type in Autobuses Estrella Blanca. The web site is in Spanish. On the upper left-hand side of the page, you will see a box that says "Reserva-Compra" with Origen and Destino selection boxes as well as a place to choose the date.

This site only shows one bus that leaves Nuevo Laredo at 6:30 in the evening and arrives in San Miguel de Allende at 6:45 the next morning. The cost per person is $526 pesos.

You might want to go to the bus station in Nuevo Laredo a day or so before your trip to see if there are departures at other times, either with Estrella Blanca or with another line. However, in my experience, if you want to do the trip all at once, the only times the bus companies make long-distance trips like this one is overnight.

Since so many of you want to travel together, it would be a good idea to make a reservation ahead of time rather than just show up at the bus station in time to buy a ticket and board the bus. There might not be room for all of you if you wait until the last minute.

Riding the bus, especially the first-class buses, is the way to go in Mexico. The seats are comfortable, there is air-conditioning/heat, a bathroom, and movies.

Some bus lines will give you a bottle of water or a canned soft drink and a sandwich when you board. It would be a good idea to bring along some water and something to eat. The bus will stop at several bus stations during the trip, so you can buy drinks and food. For an overnight trip, a pillow and even a blanket will help you get some rest.

Enjoy your trip and your visit to San Miguel!

Please feel free to ask other questions you may have. My husband and I have lived in Guanajuato for the past five years and have made the trip between Nuevo Laredo and San Miguel a couple of times.

Hi again,

If your group is not in a hurry to reach San Miguel, you could take a bus from Nuevo Laredo to a halfway point, stay overnight, then continue on the next day. That way, you can travel during the day and see the countryside.

My husband and I have made the trip straight through from Guanajuato to San Miguel de Allende to Nuevo Laredo and back, but it is very tiring. Now if we want to take a bus to Texas to visit friends, we do the trip in stages, usually from Guanajuato to Saltillo in one day, then Saltillo to Nuevo Laredo the next day. It is much less tiring than riding 12+ hours all in one stretch.

Have a great trip!
