I am going to be visiting friends in the Udon Thani area in July. They live in Chiang Phin and I would like to stay as near as possible to be convenient to them. I will be using it as a base for trips out to the are so I will not be saying every night. I'd like to get something with about a 14 day rate that is reasonable.

Any ideas?

Staying in downtown in Udon Thani may be your best option in light of wanting to use your hotel as a base. The Ban Chiang Hotel is very nice and inexpensive. You can walk to the Nong Prajak Park from the hotel and it is in the direction of Chiang Phin.

Chareon Hotel is located more downtown, and is an older hotel compared to Ban Chiang. Chareon Hotel does have a fun disco club on the bottom floor popular with Udon locals.

hope you got sorted and enjoyed your time in issan to keep up to date i use a local website built buy a old english friend of mine you can find advise and tips on the udon thani forum its a new site but already a big success
