Ljubljana Ljubljana --> Split bus/train question
Posted: Thu June 12, 2008 03:29 PM UTC
Hi! I want to go from Ljubljana to Split this summer, and was wondering how to best get there by bus or train. Does anyone know the website for booking reservations? And is there an overnight train? Thanks!

http://www.slo-zeleznice.si/en/international_transport/international_links/

is the Slovenian railway site, which actually links to:

http://www.bahn.de/p/view/international/englisch/international_guests.shtml

for its international timetables.

I don't think you can actually book tickets online, so you'll have to do this whilst you are in Ljubljana. You can call for info on +386 1 29 13 332 or email them if you want.

http://www.ap-ljubljana.si/eng/

will give you bus times. There is one overnight bus per day, leaving Ljubljana at 19:40 and arriving at Split at 06:00. Again, it seems you can only reserve tickets once you are actually in Slovenia. The phone number for information only works within the Slovenian telephone area, although there is an email link.

The Veolia bus site, linked from www.eurolines.com, has not English translation so I'm not sure if there are any other bus options. But the site I've given above is pretty comprehensive.

I reccomend you to go from Ljubljana to Rijeka by train (around 12€ one way) and then take a boat Marco Polo for Split (around 30€ one way). It is most comfortable, I think faster and most reliable connection.
And experience of Croatian coastline you must not miss
