| Land Berlin | Any recommendations for Berlin?? Posted: Wed June 11, 2008 07:01 PM UTC
Hi,
I am heading to Berlin on the 17th of June and will stay for two nights. I will be in Amsterdam and some other parts of Holland and then Antwerp before heading to Germany. I need some recommendations for hotels to stay, food, shopping, best things to see and where to go for the best night life (good dj's with electronica/house dance music). Also, any recommendations for Antwerp I would additionally appreciate. Thank you!! Heather |

Ahem, how much are you willing to spend on your hotel?
Here are three suggestions anyway: If you're on a budget: http://www.pension-guesthouse-berlin.de/ (subway and S-Bahn (commuter train) right around the corner, great area (lived there for 8 years)) Three to four stars: Hotel Augustinenhof (see my travel pages) Please note that the main street around the corner partially turns into a hooker area at night, but it's really safe there. You'd basically be in the middle of everything. Boutique hotel: Blue Home (see travel pages). Clubs: I guess you'll like Pulp Mansion: http://www.pulp-mansion.de/ The club is situated a little north of Alex(anderplatz). Ther's a tram stop next door but which line it is escapes me right now. So exit at Alex or Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz. Alternatively, check out Kulturbrauerei, which hosts a couple of clubs (again: see travel pages). Shopping: Definitely the Mitte area around Hackescher Markt S-Bahn station (i.e. alte Schönhauser St or Oranienburger St.) if you're fashion conscious. Then there's Friedrichstraße (upscale), Kastanienallee (more grungy, still somehow lovely), and of course the venerable KaDeWe (the German version of Harrods).
