Yosemite National Park Yosemite Accommodation

Hi there

My husband, myself and daughter (28) are visiting Yosemite from the UK probably 28th Oct for 2 nights after starting a flydrive holiday in San Francisco. We had looked at website for The Redwoods Cabins in Yosemite and seen varying reviews (some good some poor) on the internet.

Can you help - do you have any personal recommendations. We need to have space for 3 adults.

Also anything you can recommend in Yosemite at that time of year, which I understand can be unpredictable weatherwise.

Many thanks

Hi - if you have only two nights in Yosemite I would recommend that you stay in Yosemite Valley, not in Wawona. It is about a 35-45 minute drive from Wawona to the Valley and the Valley is much nicer. Wawona is a nice forested area but does not have the scenery of the valley. There is plenty of lodging available in the valley: Ahwahnee (expensive but historic), The Lodge, Camp Curry -- http://www.yosemitepark.com/Accommodations.aspx . I worked in Yosemite and know the area pretty well and would definately stay in the Valley.

Hi
I would also recommend the valley to stay in. The Yosemite Lodge at Falls would be my pick. Its comfortable and right in the middle of things. There is a shuttle bus that takes you to the sights. You should be able to get a room for the three of you (usually two double beds in a room) for under 200 bucks a night - sometimes you can get deals off season.

The really nice place to stay is The Ahwahnee Hotel (also in the valley) but it can be a bit expensive but, hey, the way the US FX is right now it may be affordable! I used to wait until 4.00pm, they used to have last minute specials if you turn up at that time.

Don't forget you will be up for a park fee and if you plan to see other national parks and monuments, it may pay you to see if a yearly pass will be better value.
Hope this helps,
John

Thanks for that. Have decided to extend stay to 3 nights. Have been looking at another advertised accommodation in park. That is Four Seasons who advertise condos/apartments. Do you know anything about this agency. If so what is the accommodation like.
We have changed our dates to 23/10 - 26/10, is it likely to be cold in Yosemite at that time of year.
