| Angkor Wat | Accomodation @ FCC Angkor Posted: Wed June 11, 2008 02:58 AM UTC
Hellooo....i'm going over to Angkor Wat in early aug 2008. I thought of staying at FCC but i have some doubts as what i see over the net may not be as what i'm gonna get when i reach there. Because the pictures posted on the website looks warm and welcoming.
Any VT members can provide some reviews and feedbacks for me. Would definitely appreciate it so much. Thanks! |

Thought at first that you meant FCC in Phnom Penh. There is a review of this hotel on cityhobgoblin's travel page.

We did not stay there but did stay at FCC Phnom Penh, which was fabulous. Chose the room months before and were very happy with it, the location, the meals, everything.
We did stay at La Maison in Siem Reap. This is about half the cost of the FCC or less. It is about 4k from the centre of town heading towards Angkor, etc. and was a wonderful little place with very pleasant villas arranged around a beautiful swimming pool. We were upstairs overlooking the garden and pool. Breakfast was on the terrace by the pool, as was lunch/dinner if we wished. It is run by a Frenchman/French company and employs only locals who mostly speak French and Khmer. When we were there (October 2007) the breakfast servers had a bit of trouble with English but really it was only insofar as I tried to explain I just wanted to sit with my coffee before I ordered my breakfast, and they just didn't quite get that. The breakfast was great - French influenced croissants with butter, scrambled eggs & bacon, yoghurts, and good coffee (unlike in other places in Cambodia!) and the fish curry for lunch was fabulous. We found it quiet, calm and fabulous after three days of temples and town in the evenings and shopping til late. The receptionists husband and his brother were out the front with their tuk tuks to take you to town, the temples, etc. They were a lovely country family from the south who had sold their farm and moved up and purchased tuk tuks for work, but were not doing as well as they could because there are now too many tuk tuks and drivers in Siem Reap. The father I think stayed home and cared for the baby when the mother was working as the receptionist.
