Antibes where to go on french riviera?
Posted: Wed June 11, 2008 01:37 AM UTC
My boyfriend and I are traveling to the French Riviera for a couple of days in beginning of august - i know it's the middle of tourist season :(. But despite that where is a nice place to go that will be somewhat mellow and not as pretentious as Cannes? We are looking to enjoy sights and beaches for a moderate price if possible. Thanks :)

Huum, French "cote d'azur" in august? Good challenge, but you seems to be aware. My suggestion could be not so popular cities (Cannes, St-Tropez) like

1/ Agay http://www.agay.fr/ (
2/ Cavalaire sur mer http://www.tourisme.fr/office-de-tourisme/cavalaire-sur-mer.htm

Other alternative, if you accept to be far from the sea but with a wonderful big lake (and not crowdeed) = Lac De Sainte Croix

Hi! My suggestion would be Nice. Though it's pretty late to find cheap accommodation, you can always try at Accor hotels - there are 3 Ibis hotels and 3 Etap hotels in Nice.

Beaches and water are great in Nice as long as you are aware there is no sand but rocks on the beaches and you need plastic shoes and a thick mattress to stay on.

Nice is fabulous from the morning to the night. Eating is great and you can walk many times on the Promenade des Anglais and never be bored.

Check out my Nice page for some tips I wrote.
