Pisa Luggage Check at Pisa train station
Posted: Tue June 10, 2008 11:27 PM UTC
Does anyone know if there if a luggage check at Pisa Centrale and Pisa San Rossore train stations ? I will arrive with my luggage, and need a place to check it while I look around Pisa for the day (then I have to catch a train to Rome later in the day).

The Trenitalia website reports that there is a 'Deposito Bagagli' (Left Luggage in English) at Pisa Centrale, but not at Rossore, which makes sense since Rossore is just a commuter station.

Note that the Left Luggage is probably a manned office rather than lockers, since most lockers were taken out many years ago because of terrorist bombings (leftist bombings, not 'religious').

Information from nearly a year ago when we did exactly as you are doing is on my Pisa page - and yes there is a luggage storage area at Pisa Centrale - cost was 3 Euro/bag and you need passport or other photo ID which they photocopy and attach to the bag(s).

Head out of the main terminal building, turn left and follow building around and you'll see the lef baggage area. There was lockers there then, but the area was closed off.

Enjoy the tower - and please don't push it over - LOL

How much luggage are you toting? See my illustrated Pisa report at my travel home page for how to do the "tower trek" with luggage in tow from the train station.

Abitavo in Italia nei 70s, duranti i giorni delle Brigate Rosse (ed altri)...purtroppo, il mondo di terrorismo non e' una cosa nuova in Italia...:-(

As I don't read/write/speak Italian, I put Bill's above post into Bablefish (not always completly accurate) on line translations:

"I lived in Italy in the 70s, lasting the days of the Red Brigades (and others)… unfortunately, the world of terrorism not e' a new thing in Italy…: - ("

Sadly terrorism is something we all should be aware of and act accordingly and particularly when we are visiting other countries.

I WAS writing a fiction thriller and drempt up a way of holding countries to ransom in a terrible way - I stopped writing that book when we all saw on TV the terrible incidents that occured in US on 9th Sept. There was one of many thousands of stories centered around those incidents in US - aparantly the concept of flying fully laden aircraft into buildings was in a fiction thriller book some years earlier. I could never live with the idea that I was in some way responsible for terrorists (or others) to wreck havoc on the lives or history of other countries.

I just wanted to confirm that the left luggage is still 3 euros per bag. I left my bag there a couple of days ago. Enjoy Pisa!
