Panamá City Travel Forum

Hi,

I will be travelling by myself from the US to Isla Contadora in August, to visit a friend. I would like to stay a day or two in Panama City and visit the city and the canal.

Does anyone know of a hotel in a safe area, not too far from the airport, that would also have sighteeing tours? Ideally, I'd like to take a tour from the hotel, and return to the hotel? I do not speak Spanish, and being by myself, I really do not want to end up in the wrong place.

regarding the tours i have a friend that has a tour and taxi service company and they have great english so the spanish wont be a problem there number is 507-267-0824/507-6735-2353. im pretty sure youll likecontadora its really nice.

We stayed in the Balboa Inn last week. It's located in -guess what - Balboa, which is between the Panama Canal entrance and Panama City. It's a very quiet and safe residential area and the staff is very helpful in arranging tours.

It's also 5 minutes by car from the domestic airport where you'll catch your flight to Contadora.

The owners are Dutch and between the two of them they speak 7 languages!

Maybe you are already in Panama but I stayed in the Balboa Inn with my partner and I think it would be just what you are looking for. Safe, helpful staff to plan tours, easy to get in and out to do tours. See www.thebalboainn.com. They picked us up at the airport and our flight came in delayed at close to midnight!

You must do the Embera Indian Village trip (www.emberavillatours.com) and of course the Canal (Miraflores locks). Then Casco Viejo, Amador... lots of cool places in Panama. Enjoy!
