Bali My Bali Itinerary
Posted: Mon June 9, 2008 12:17 PM UTC
Hi, I am trying to put together a reasonably comprehensive itinerary for myself and extended family. We will all be in Bali for a family wedding and staying for about 2 weeks. The majority of us have been before, so I'm not really interested in Kuta, Legian, or Denpasar, although I'm sure they'll be revisited at some point. What I am interested in is a series of day trips, no overnighters. Insight and suggestions on logical route progressions and time allowances would be much appreciated.
So, here goes.

Full Day:
Tohpati-weaving & batik
Batubalan-Barong & Kris dance
Celuk-silver & gold
Mas-woodcarving
Sebatu-holy spring temple and bathing
Kintamani-late lunch.
Trunyan Village-see Burial traditions and traditional salt making process.
Ubud-Royal Palace, Markets, Galleries, Sacred Monkey Forest.
Return to accommodations via Tampaksiring-Tirta Empul and Goa Gajah.

Full Day:
Klungkung-Palace of Justice
Candi Dasa
Besikah-Mother Temple
Goa Lawah

Full Day:
Lake Bratan-Ulan Danu, Botanical Gardens, Buddhist Monastery
Candikuning-Flower & Fruit market
Pupuan village
Banjar Hot Springs
Lovina- Bull race on friday at 4pm
Gitgit Waterfall

Half Day:
Mengwi-Taman Ayun
Tanah Lot and markets

Half Day:
Uluwatu-temple and Garuda Wisnu statue
Jimbaran

Any other suggestions are welcome.

I would do a cooking class, we did Bumbu Bali which is located in Tajung Benoa. If you are staying close to here they will collect you from your hotel otherwise the other pick up point is at the McDonalds at Jimbaran. The course includes a trip to the market to buy the food, back to bumbu bali for breakfast, cooking and then eating lunch. The reason I enjoyed it was that it was not all cooking, they did most of the cooking but you got involved. The food was fantastic and was well worth the money.

Thamks Meggie,
?I also did one in ubud at Casa Luna, same thing, mostly spectator sport, but did ahve an interesting time. I still need to know whether the time I have allowed to do all these things is realistic. I think I may be cramming too much.

Going to Candidasa - eat at Vincents.
Also in the area: Tenganan Village - a must stop
I hope you are using a driver/guide, not just a driver who drops you off. We have used Merta for the last 3 years, he has been great and we highly recommed him.
