Forum Question Posted By: Replies:
Edinburgh Anyone interested in meeting for a drink / cup of coffee / etc.?
Posted: Mon June 9, 2008 11:58 AM UTC
Hello all!
My fiancee is Scottish, but hasn't been back to his hometown of Edinburgh for over 12 years (!). We're really looking forward to this trip (for me it's the 1st ever visit to the UK)

We'll be there from Tuesday 5th until Monday 11th of August, and I was wondering whether any VT members in the area would like to meet for a chat?
(We'll be staying in the Grassmarket)

Greetings from hot & humid Dubai,
Jess ('c',)

You'd better post this in the "events and meetings section".

Ciao!

I know I should, but it looks like there has NEVER been a VT meeting in Scotland before (can that be true?), so I don't think that any of the Scottish VT-regulars even look in the calendar....?

September 2006 Jess. Slightly longer periods between VT meetings than in the UAE.
Shame it's not nearer to Wales. I would love to have gone to a meeting. Maybe one day, inshalla.
PS - Welcome to the UK Jess. I hope you enjoy our country. Just get ready to say "Ouch!" when you see how much things cost here. And you complain about Dubai? .... :))

Hi Dave :-)

mainly it's rent and house prices that are extortionate in Dubai (up to 4 times higher than Edinburgh!) but anyway it will be an expensive holiday for us because our currency has become virtually useless compared to the Pound Sterling and the Euro (ouch :-(

Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to finally visiting "the island" ;-)

In 1999 I was given the chance of buying a 2 bed apartment for around the £45,000 mark at one of the then new developments in Dubai. Oh, how I wish I had!
