Zürich Hello everyone and Greetings from Malaysia :)

Hi there all virtualtourist,

My name is Thomas Look and I hail from Malaysia which is located in South East Asia. My hometown is in Selangor which is about 45 mins drive from our nation's capital Kuala Lumpur.

I will be travelling to Zurich next month (July 2008) on a business cum honeymoon with my wife. I would like some estimated on the prices of things in Zurich so that I may budget my visit there. I will have no problems with accomadations and food as we will be staying at the company's hostel where by all basic ammenities will be provided for.

I would love to know how much does Omega, IWC or Tag Heuer timepiecs retails for averagely. I am looking at a budget of about CHF 1000 per piece so will I be able to buy any watches from these retailers?

I would also love to get an upgrade on the wedding ring that I bought for my wife and would appreciate any recommendations and price on jewellery. I had heard a lot about swiss chocolets nad are dying for some so any recommendations where I may get some?

I look forward to you kind replies and suggestions.

Warmest regards,
Thomas

Hello Thomas

Famous (and delicious!) Chocolatiers in Zurich are:

Spruengli Confiserie on Paradeplatz (Try the 'Truffes du Jour': freshly made daily and VIP Pralines)
www.spruengli.ch

Bahnhofstrasse 218001 Zürich, Switzerland
+41 44 224 46 46

and

Teuscher Confiserie (their Champagne Truffles are divine!!)
www.teuscher.com

Storchengasse 9
8001 Zürich, Switzerland
+41 44 211 51 53

and I can warmly recommend: (for cakes, pastries and savoury pastry)

Confiserie HONOLD
Rennweg 53,
8001 Zürich

My special all-time favourite place however is:

Confiserie Schober
Napfgasse 4
in Niederdorf

it is something like out of picture book and their homemade cakes and patisseries are heavenly!
and the whole ambiance is just wonderfully 'old-world' style (confortable sofas and armchairs in their non-smoking lounge and breakfast is divine with homemade butter croissants. The coffee is delicious and their hot chocolate too. They also serve wine and savoury dishes.

have a look at this:
