Hello, I will be in Florence for a day (I know not long enough!) and was wondering how far Novella train station is from the city centre. Thanks!

Santa Maria Novella is about 600 metres from the Duomo. Check it out on Google Maps and you'll get an idea of the layout of the city centre, which follows a Roman grid pattern.

I was going to say "a few inches", but James' answer is more useful, I suppose ;-) Really, SMN is right in the city with most of the center of Florence a rather short walk away...
