| Niagara Falls | visiting Niagara falls in Canada Posted: Sat June 7, 2008 03:17 PM UTC
I am from India. I will be visiting USA in June-July-2008. One of my destination is Niagara falls (USA part). Is there a way to see it from Canada, without obtaining a Canadian Visa. I do not want to go though hassles of obtaining a Canadian Visa (and pay for it dearly), just to see Niagara fall from Canadian side. Is there a way out to this.

Hi,
Hope you have a great time while you are here! As for crossing over into Ontario, Canada take a read of this site I think it says that you DO need a visa to come into Canada! http://www.niagarafallslive.com/Niagara_Falls_Travel_Tips.htm " Persons wishing to travel to Canada whom are not U.S. citizens may be required to get a "tourist visa" from the Canadian consulate in the country from which they are arriving from. If you are in the USA on a visa and wish to visit Canada while in New York there is a Canadian consulate located in Buffalo New York. YOU CANNOT OBTAIN A TOURIST VISA AT ANY OF THE BORDER CROSSINGS. When contacting the Consul, inform them that you wish to obtain a "temporary resident visa". As of August 2007 the cost was $160.00. To contact the Canadian consulate in Buffalo call 716-858 9591 Fax: 716-852-2477. For online information visit the Canadian Consul Website"

If you walk across the Rainbow Bridge at Niagara the border control is on the Canada side and so from the bridge you can actually see the Falls from Canada without officially crossing the border - the actual border line is mid-way across the bridge. However I can't remember if the entrance to the bridge involves a one-way turnstile or not - but if you are there it would be worth checking out.

Hi Anil,
You will definitely need a visa to enter Canada side. The Embassy will require you to obtain your visa from your country of origin. The view from Buffalo Side is pretty good, I recommend you take the boat ride that will take you as close as possible to the falls. It's a great ride! Just be prepare to get wet! Hope this helps! Happy travels!
