Need your help. We are traveling to Victoria Falls via Zambia (Livingstone) in early August.
Because of the current situation in Zimbabwe, does anyone feel this trip is unsafe? Thank you |

NO.
Unless you are a member of the MDC with a t-shirt as such or similar and leave the general area of Vic Falls by at least 100 miles, no problem. Also having Zim ID at checkpoints in some places. Are you a tourist? What country are you from? It helps us on VT to anser questions if you fill out your profile. Are you from SAU or UNHCR?

Thanks for your reply. We are tourists from the United States. I just joined the VT site today
and have not yet had time to complete the profile. Your response helped put us at ease.

I am American also and drove around (really) parts of Zimbabwe and stayed in Victoria Falls in the Zim side. PLease have a look at my small, but growing page.
Other than finding meat a bit hard to find, I prefered the Zim side a lot. Its prettier and its walking distance to the falls. Livingston (I have a page on that too) is 16kms from the falls. All the best, DAO

Vic Falls is a major income earner for Zimbabwe and is very much isolated from the current violence which is rampant throughout Zimbabwe. You will have no safety issues in Vic Falls and in fact the money you spend will help the locals in these desperate times. Having said that, the USA is not exactly Mugabe's favourite nation so have NOTHING on you which might identify you as a reporter. I think in todays climate enetering Zimbabwe through the border from Zambia is a safer option than flying into Vic Falls airport. I agree that Vic Falls is a nicer town to stay in than Livingstone.

Victoria fall via livingstone has nothing today with the crisis in Zimbabwe.
There is no reason why i would worry about Zambia with respect to the Zim crisis. I plan to go there soon and zimbabwe never crossed my mind. Regds HJ
