| Bundesland Salzburg | munich to salzburg - driving Posted: Sat June 7, 2008 03:51 AM UTC
Hello, just wondering how easy (or difficult) it is dricing to Salzburg frm Munich. Is there somewhere I can get directions in English?
Will then also need directions from Salzburg to Slovenia. Also, do you think its possible to see the sights of the 'sound of music'[ tour, by doing it yourself and driving to the sights? We thought we might as well drive considering we have car hire anyway thanks |

Go to viamichelin and type in you're starting & ending points for good directions & maps of the trip.
http://www.viamichelin.co.uk/viamichelin/gbr/tpl/h It's an easy trip, about an hour & 1/2. For the sound of music tour- Some fo the sights are difficult to find (gazeebo, tree lined entryway to the villa), so it may be worth the tour. Very easy to find them in Salzburg ceter of town. I actually liked the tour better than I thought I would. However, if you're not a huge fan of Sound of Music, maybe just take the car to Mondsee (on the tour also), and enjoy the wonderful Austrian countryside in this area.

If you aren't planning stops between Munich and Salzburg, you could just take a train, or the Lufthansa airport shuttle to Salzburg. Due to fuel costs, and parking issues, taking the "Sound of Music" tour itself, probably is much simpler. If you do rent a car, just ask for one with GPS.
